“Forthcoming holidays at SMU may free Mrs. Carl F. Long Jr. from classes in her pursuit of a favorite interest–costume designing–but she’ll still keep busy with another big job, that of learning to be an American housewife.” (Dallas Morning News, December 20, 1955)

Yoshie Fukuda (married name: Mrs. Carl F. Long Jr.) was a Japanese war bride who studied costume design at SMU and planned to work in fashion eventually.

“Mrs. Long would like most to create casual dresses–a welcome change, she finds, from the formalized Japanese costume.”
